Simple Product Type Only

Simple Product Type Only simplifies the product type dropdown in the classic WooCommerce product editor. New products offer only the Simple product type.

Existing products keep their current type available alongside Simple. This prevents a normal edit and save from silently converting an existing variable, grouped, external, or custom product.

Requirements: WooCommerce.

If the required product type is unavailable, the dropdown is left unchanged. If Course Product Type Only is also active, this plugin pauses its own restriction and displays an administrator warning. Deactivate the other restriction plugin before using Simple Product Type Only.

This is an editor convenience, not an access-control policy. It does not restrict REST API requests, imports, bulk editing, or product creation by other code. It does not alter storefront product queries, orders, checkout, or stored product types. Virtual and Downloadable are separate WooCommerce options and remain available where WooCommerce supports them.

The WooCommerce block-based product editor is not supported by this plugin. Use the classic product editor.

No settings, remote requests, tracking, or additional database tables are created by this plugin. Deactivation restores the standard dropdown.
