Presslyte – Front End Text Editor

v1.1.19 · by Presslyte

Front end text editor for WordPress. Edit supported text on the page, preview and save. Optional AI wording with your own OpenAI or OpenRouter key.

About this plugin

Presslyte is a front end text editor for making quick changes to your existing WordPress website. This frontend editor lets you fix a typo, update business hours or change a heading where it appears. Click supported highlighted text, type your change, preview and save.

Edit supported native WordPress paragraphs, headings and lists, plus supported static text in standard, page-owned Elementor Heading and Text Editor widgets. Layout settings, forms, navigation and unsupported content stay protected.

Native text support includes compatible Gutenberg (WordPress block editor) content and supported text saved with Classic Editor.

Connect your own OpenAI or OpenRouter API account for optional help improving wording, shortening text or drafting a heading. Review each suggestion, choose whether to apply it to your draft, then explicitly save it. Normal editing works without AI. Provider access, charges and usage limits apply.

On first use, a short, skippable quick start walks you through changing one supported heading, saving it and checking the refreshed page. The full guide remains available from Help.

Presslyte Free works without a Presslyte account or license key. There is no editing quota. Your WordPress permissions control who can edit.

Useful for everyday website updates

  • Small businesses: correct highlighted business hours, service wording and other supported text.
  • Clients and content teams: update supported wording using their existing WordPress permissions.
  • Students and project teams: revise headings and paragraphs on WordPress project websites and portfolios.

A clear editing boundary

Presslyte highlights text only when it can verify the saved WordPress or supported Elementor text source. Choose a highlighted paragraph, heading or list item to begin. Page structure, forms, dynamic output, code and existing link destinations stay protected.

Use a compatible theme, supported native WordPress blocks, or supported standard Elementor text widgets. Preview your wording and check the saved page; longer text can naturally change wrapping and page height.

Privacy and external services

Editing and the built-in introduction do not require external services. Presslyte stores local editor preferences, recovery drafts, saved versions and editor attribution. WordPress privacy export and erasure tools are supported; erasure anonymizes attribution while preserving shared page content and recovery history.

Optional AI wording connects to your own OpenAI or OpenRouter API account. No model, AI runtime, API key or credits are bundled. It is disabled until you configure and enable your own connection. Normal editing remains available without AI. A chat-app subscription may not include API access; the provider may charge for requests. OpenRouter’s openrouter/free route is an optional free-model choice subject to its availability and limits. Presslyte does not select a paid fallback.

Choose Connect with OpenRouter to sign in and authorize access on OpenRouter’s website. This opens https://openrouter.ai/auth and shares this WordPress site’s callback address and temporary authorization parameters. Presslyte exchanges the returned authorization code at https://openrouter.ai/api/v1/auth/keys and encrypts the received key for your WordPress user on this site. It never receives your OpenRouter password. A new connection selects openrouter/free; reconnecting keeps an existing OpenRouter model choice. Review the model, enable the connection and save before requesting wording. Connecting alone does not request a suggestion. Temporary authorization data expires after ten minutes. Disconnect erases the local key; revoke the provider-issued key in OpenRouter if you also want to disable it there.

Only after you explicitly request a suggestion and confirm the disclosure, Presslyte sends the selected wording, your writing instructions, model choice and wording-only system instructions to https://api.openai.com/v1/responses or https://openrouter.ai/api/v1/chat/completions. Your API key authenticates that request. OpenRouter also routes it to a model provider. The service sees normal network metadata, including the server IP. Presslyte does not add your account email, site URL, other page content or site files to the request; any personal details you include in the selected text or instructions are sent. Provider retention policies apply; OpenAI store:false is not a promise of zero retention.

Suggestions are plain text for an existing supported field. You review the wording and facts, apply it to your draft, then explicitly save. AI receives no website tools, layout controls or permission to save. Existing source and permission restrictions still apply. API keys are stored encrypted for the current WordPress user and site, are not exposed in the browser, and can be erased using Disconnect. User erasure and plugin deletion also remove these connection keys.

The Learn area opens written guides at https://presslyte.com/product-updates/ and video tutorials at https://presslyte.com/tutorials/ only when selected. Presslyte does not fetch a learning feed, load remote lesson thumbnails or schedule lesson updates. See https://presslyte.com/privacy/ for the destination privacy policy.

The optional compatibility-help and support links open https://presslyte.com/support/ in a new tab only when selected. Opening them does not automatically send your site URL, content or diagnostic details. You choose what to share and submit on that website.

Optional testing feedback is disabled by default. When an administrator enables it, sending the feedback form uses the site’s WordPress mail service to send the entered message, plugin version and optional reply email to [email protected]. Sending requires an explicit user action.

Deactivation retains content and recovery records. Deleting the plugin retains settings and recovery history by default. The explicit erase-on-uninstall setting removes Free editor settings and recovery history while leaving published page content and stored mapped text intact.

When two or more compatible Presslyte plugins are active, their on-page tools share one compact workspace with tabs for the available tools. Switching tools keeps your current draft and findings available. Each plugin also works on its own; no separate hub plugin is required. Older versions keep their independent interfaces until updated.
