About this plugin

Featured Images: Edit & Undo does one focused job: change a small group of featured-image assignments and retain the original assignments for recovery.

  • Searchable post/page selection and the native WordPress media picker.
  • Filters for missing or assigned images, category and inclusive content dates.
  • Thumbnail previews before any changes are applied.
  • Set, replace or remove an assignment without deleting media or changing article content.
  • Database transactions keep assignments and recovery records together.
  • Undo skips later image edits, unavailable images and active editor locks.
  • Persistent batch history and JSON recovery-record export.
  • Administrator-only controls, per-post permissions and nonce-protected operations.
  • No external requests, telemetry, visitor scripts, AI account or paid dependency.

Single-site WordPress with PHP 8.1+, the standard WordPress database driver and InnoDB tables is required. Batches are limited to 50 items from one selection page. SQLite, multisite, custom post types and custom database-routing layers are unsupported.

Keep the plugin active while you need undo. Reactivation makes old records export-only. Deletion removes all plugin history but leaves posts, media and image assignments intact. Direct database edits bypassing WordPress hooks cannot always be detected. Third-party external side effects cannot be rolled back. Read README.md for full recovery and compatibility guidance.

Privacy

This plugin makes no external requests and loads no remote assets: everything it shows and runs is served from your own site. It does not track you, phone home, or send data anywhere, and it sets no cookies and runs no visitor-facing scripts.

Undo records (batch identifiers, administrator user IDs, timestamps, selected post and image IDs, and recovery states) and a few settings are stored only in your own site’s database: the plugin’s own journal tables and options. Exported JSON files contain those same fields and are created only when you choose to export.

Uninstalling (deleting) the plugin removes only its own data: its journal tables, including tables migrated from earlier private builds, its settings options, and its short-lived notice data. Your posts, media files and featured-image assignments are left untouched.
